ARTIST STATEMENT
John Ross Wilson is a Chicago-based artist known for his mixed-media abstract approach, creating bold and thought-provoking works. Specializing in studio paintings, large-scale murals, and scenic art installations, his work injects vibrancy into urban spaces while pushing the boundaries of visual expression. Beyond traditional mediums, Wilson’s work spans music, theater, festivals, and education. With over 20 years of experience as a teaching artist in Chicago Public Schools, he has inspired students of all ages. In 2021, he was a featured artist in “The Art of Banksy” exhibit in Chicago, where he showcased twelve paintings alongside Banksy’s work. He has been a live painter at Fulton Street Collective for over five years, marrying music and art with some of Chicago’s best Jazz musicians. His murals and installations can be found in buildings throughout the Chicagoland area.

Art Wall Gallery Opening + Art As Spiritual Practice
Join Cityside Spiritual Community and Fulton Street Collective for an inspiring evening of creativity and community! Begin the night enjoying the Cityside Art Wall featuring the newest series from John Ross Wilson, “Flow State,” exploring the intersection of color and emotion through dynamic abstract compositions.
Stay for “The Color of Memory,” a hands-on experience of the artist’s work. John Ross Wilson will guide you through an exploration of choosing colors based on specific emotions from your life to explore the practice behind his work.
